How To Build A Recessed Medicine Cabinet With Mirror
Recessed medicine cabinets with mirrors are a great way to add storage and style to your bathroom. They can be installed in walls or cabinets to create a custom look. With a few tools and materials, you can easily build your own recessed medicine cabinet with mirror.
Materials:
- 1 sheet of 1/2-inch thick plywood (32 inches x 48 inches)
- 1 mirror (24 inches x 36 inches)
- 1 medicine cabinet door (24 inches x 36 inches)
- 2 hinges
- 1 magnetic catch
- 1 tube of construction adhesive
- 1 box of 1-1/4 inch drywall screws
- 1 box of 2-inch drywall screws

- Circular saw
- Jigsaw
- Drill
- Countersink bit
- Screwdriver
- Hammer
- Level
- Measuring tape

Instructions:
1. Cut the plywood to size. The plywood should be cut to the following dimensions:
2. Assemble the cabinet box. Apply construction adhesive to the edges of the two 24 inches x 48 inches pieces of plywood. Then, join the pieces together to form a rectangle. Drive 1-1/4 inch drywall screws through the sides of the cabinet box to secure it.
3. Attach the back panel. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the 24 inches x 12 inches piece of plywood. Then, attach the plywood to the back of the cabinet box. Drive 1-1/4 inch drywall screws through the back of the cabinet box to secure it.
4. Attach the bottom shelf. Apply construction adhesive to the bottom edge of the 24 inches x 6 inches piece of plywood. Then, attach the plywood to the bottom of the cabinet box. Drive 1-1/4 inch drywall screws through the bottom of the cabinet box to secure it.
5. Cut the opening for the mirror. Use a jigsaw to cut an opening in the front of the cabinet box for the mirror. The opening should be 24 inches x 36 inches.
6. Install the mirror. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the mirror. Then, insert the mirror into the opening in the cabinet box. Drive 2-inch drywall screws through the front of the cabinet box to secure the mirror.
7. Install the medicine cabinet door. Attach the hinges to the door and the cabinet box. Then, install the magnetic catch to the door and the cabinet box. The magnetic catch will keep the door closed.
8. Finish the cabinet. You can paint or stain the cabinet to match your bathroom decor.
