Easy Tutorial Of Macrame Mirror Wall Hanging

Macrame Mirror Wall Hanging: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

Elevate your home decor with a stunning macrame mirror wall hanging. This bohemian-inspired piece is a perfect addition to any room, adding a touch of elegance and creativity. With a few simple supplies and a bit of patience, you can create your own unique masterpiece.

Materials Required:

  • Macrame cotton cord (approximately 300-400 yards)
  • Mirror (size and shape of your choice)
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Comb (for brushing out the fringe)

Instructions:

  1. Create the Macrame Cord: Cut the cotton cord into 12 strands, each approximately 10 feet long. Fold each strand in half and make a lark's head knot around a dowel or other support.
  2. Divide the Cords into Sections: Separate the cords into three equal sections, with 4 cords in each section.
  3. Square Knot: Start with the two cords on the left of section 1. Cross the left cord over the right cord and then pull it under the right cord. Bring the right cord over the left cord and pull it through the loop created by the left cord. Repeat this process with the next two cords in the section. Make 4 square knots in total.
  4. Repeat Knotting: Repeat step 3 with section 2 and then section 3.
  5. Start a Half Square Knot: In section 1, cross the far left cord over the next cord to the right. Hold these two cords together and pull the remaining two cords from section 1 through the loop created by the first two cords. Tighten the knot.
  6. Complete the Half Square Knots: Repeat step 5 with the next two cords in section 1. Then, make half square knots with the cords in sections 2 and 3.
  7. Repeat Row: Continue alternating between square knots and half square knots to create the desired length for the macrame.
  8. Attach the Mirror: Place the mirror in the center of the macrame panel. Wrap the cords around the frame of the mirror and tie them together with a simple knot.
  9. Create a Fringe: Split each of the 12 cords in half to create 24 cords. Braid each set of 3 cords together for about 1 inch. Trim the ends of the braids to create a fringe.
  10. Comb and Hang: Use a comb to brush out the fringe to give it a fluffy appearance. Hang the wall hanging on the wall with nails or a dowel.

Tips:

  • If you want a larger wall hanging, simply add more strands of cord.
  • Experiment with different knotting patterns to create unique designs.
  • Use a curtain rod or dowel to hang the wall hanging for a more polished look.

Congratulations on creating your own stylish macrame mirror wall hanging! It's a beautiful addition to your home and a perfect way to add a touch of boho chic.
