The backing board, slightly larger than the mirror's backplate, provides a larger surface area for distributing the weight and can be securely attached to multiple studs.

Before drilling any holes, always double-check measurements and markings. Accurate placement is crucial for a balanced and securely hung mirror. Use a level to ensure the hanging hardware is perfectly horizontal. This prevents the mirror from tilting once hung.

The drilling process itself requires careful attention. Using the correct drill bit size for the chosen fixings is essential. Once the holes are drilled and the fixings are securely in place, carefully hang the mirror. Ensure the hanging hardware on the mirror aligns perfectly with the fixings in the wall. For extremely heavy mirrors, having assistance during this stage is recommended to prevent accidents and ensure proper alignment.

After hanging, check the mirror's stability. Gently push on different areas of the mirror to ensure it is firmly attached and does not wobble or move. A final check with a level confirms its proper alignment.

Specific mirror designs might incorporate D-rings or wire hanging systems. D-rings offer a robust and straightforward method, allowing the mirror to be hung directly on appropriately sized screws or hooks.
