How to Make a Large Round Mirror Frame

Creating a large round mirror frame can be a great way to add a touch of style and elegance to your home. However, it can also be a daunting task, especially if you have never done it before.

In this article, we will break down the process of making a large round mirror frame into a few simple steps. We will also provide some tips and tricks to help you get the best results.

Materials

Before you begin, you will need to gather the following materials:

  • A large round mirror
  • Wood molding
  • Wood glue
  • Nails or screws
  • A miter saw or a hand saw
  • A sander
  • Paint or stain (optional)

Step 1: Cut the Molding

The first step is to cut the molding to the correct size. You will need to cut two pieces of molding that are the same length as the diameter of the mirror. You will also need to cut four pieces of molding that are the same length as the circumference of the mirror.

To cut the molding, you can use a miter saw or a hand saw. If you are using a miter saw, be sure to set the saw to a 45-degree angle.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame

Once the molding is cut, you can begin to assemble the frame. Start by applying a thin bead of wood glue to the edge of one of the long pieces of molding. Then, place the other long piece of molding on top of the glue and press it into place.

Next, apply a thin bead of wood glue to the edges of the four short pieces of molding. Then, place the short pieces of molding on top of the long pieces of molding, forming a square or rectangle.

Step 3: Secure the Frame

Once the frame is assembled, you will need to secure it in place. You can do this by nailing or screwing the molding together.

If you are using nails, be sure to use small nails that will not split the molding. If you are using screws, be sure to pre-drill the holes so that the screws do not strip the wood.

Step 4: Sand and Finish the Frame

Once the frame is secured, you can sand it to smooth out any rough edges. You can then paint or stain the frame to match your décor.

Once the paint or stain has dried, your large round mirror frame is complete!
