How to Screen Mirror an iPhone to a Samsung TV
Mirroring your iPhone screen to a Samsung TV enables you to enjoy content from your phone on a larger screen, ideal for presentations, watching videos, or simply sharing photos and videos with a group. Several methods are available, depending on your Samsung TV model and the features it offers.
Using Apple's AirPlay 2
AirPlay 2 is Apple's standard wireless screen mirroring technology. It allows you to seamlessly stream video, audio, and screen content from your iPhone to compatible devices, including Samsung smart TVs. To use AirPlay 2, follow these steps:
- Ensure your Samsung TV is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone.
- On your iPhone, open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom on older iPhones).
- Tap the "Screen Mirroring" icon (which looks like a rectangular box with a triangle pointing to the right).
- You'll see a list of available AirPlay 2 devices. Select your Samsung TV from the list.
- Your iPhone screen will now be mirrored on your Samsung TV.
To stop screen mirroring, simply tap the "Screen Mirroring" icon again and select "Stop Mirroring".
Using Samsung's SmartThings App
The SmartThings app is Samsung's mobile application for controlling smart home devices, including Samsung TVs. It can be used for screen mirroring as well, offering a more integrated approach to managing your smart home environment.
- Download and install the SmartThings app on your iPhone.
- Open the app and log in to your Samsung account.
- Add your Samsung TV to the SmartThings app, following the on-screen instructions.
- On your iPhone, open the Control Center and tap "Screen Mirroring".
- Select your Samsung TV from the list. Your iPhone's screen will be mirrored on your TV.
Similar to AirPlay 2, you can stop screen mirroring by tapping "Screen Mirroring" in the Control Center and choosing "Stop Mirroring".
Using a HDMI Adapter
If your Samsung TV doesn't support AirPlay 2 or the SmartThings app, you can still mirror your iPhone's screen using an HDMI adapter. This involves physically connecting your iPhone to the TV using an adapter and cable.
- Purchase an Apple Digital AV Adapter or a compatible Lightning to HDMI adapter.
- Connect the adapter to your iPhone's Lightning port.
- Connect the adapter to your Samsung TV's HDMI port using an HDMI cable.
- On your iPhone, select the HDMI output as your audio/video source.
- Your iPhone's screen will now be mirrored on your Samsung TV.
Note that this method may have limitations depending on the adapter and your Samsung TV's capabilities. Some adapters may only output video, while others may also provide audio support.
It’s important to remember that screen mirroring over Wi-Fi can be affected by network congestion and interference, potentially leading to lagging or disconnections. If you experience such issues, try connecting your devices to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network or using a wired connection with an HDMI adapter. With these methods, you can enjoy a seamless screen mirroring experience and use your Samsung TV as a second screen for your iPhone.
