Make a Wood Frame Bathroom Mirror: A Step-by-Step Guide
A wood frame bathroom mirror adds a touch of elegance and warmth to any bathroom. It's a relatively easy project to make yourself, and it's a great way to save money over buying a pre-made mirror. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you make your own wood frame bathroom mirror:
Materials:
- 1/2-inch thick plywood or MDF
- Wood frame molding
- Mirror
- Wood glue
- Nails or screws
- Sandpaper
- Paint or stain (optional)
Tools:
- Saw
- Drill
- Nail gun or screwdriver
- Sanding block or sandpaper
- Measuring tape
- Level
Instructions:
1. Cut the plywood or MDF to the desired size of the mirror.
2. Cut the wood frame molding to the length of the sides of the mirror.
3. Apply wood glue to the edges of the wood frame molding and attach it to the plywood or MDF.
4. Drive nails or screws through the wood frame molding and into the plywood or MDF.
5. Sand the edges of the wood frame molding to smooth them out.
6. Paint or stain the wood frame molding (optional).
7. Apply a bead of silicone caulk to the back of the mirror and attach it to the wood frame.
8. Allow the caulk to dry for 24 hours before using the mirror.
Tips:
- Use a level to make sure that the wood frame molding is square before attaching it to the plywood or MDF.
- If you're using a large mirror, you may need to use two or more pieces of wood frame molding for each side.
- You can use any type of wood frame molding that you like. However, I recommend using a molding that is at least 1 inch wide.
- If you're going to be painting or staining the wood frame molding, be sure to sand it first to remove any splinters or rough edges.
- Allow the caulk to dry completely before using the mirror to prevent it from falling off.
That's it! You've now made your own wood frame bathroom mirror. Enjoy your new addition!
